Marcus Johnson

A smooth jazz keyboardist, Marcus Johnson incorporates the rhythms of rap using the spirit of R&B. Johnson was raised listening to a wide selection of music: his mom played traditional piano and his initial memorable concert knowledge was viewing an Earth, Breeze & Fire present with his dad. His curiosity about jazz first demonstrated itself when he started tinkling the tips at age group 13 (his step-father gained Maryland’s “Get-3 Lottery” and utilized the winnings to get Johnson’s first key pad) and he discovered himself learning both traditional and modern jazz music artists (Joe Test and Thelonious Monk are two brands he often cites). Johnson also set up Marimelj Entertainment Group, Inc., a creation firm and music publisher that prides itself on mixing an assortment of modern jazz, option, and R&B to produce what the business phone calls “the Urban Groove.”
