Eccentric indie rock-band Maps & Atlases feature Erin Elders (guitar), Shiraz Dada (bass), Chris Hainey (drums), and Dave Davison (guitar/vocals). Although they are located in Chicago, the users of Maps & Atlases choose to align themselves with the word they define as “fresh regionalism.” Dada is in fact the only person who phone calls Chicago house. Hainey comes from Tx, whereas Elders offers soaked up sunlight in Maui. Davison experienced a humble Midwestern upbringing in Indiana. The foursome in the beginning fulfilled at a Chicago artwork college in 2004, merging their individual passions in art, books, film, and music for an enigmatic post-rock-inspired sound. Maps & Atlases self-released their debut EP, Tree, Swallows, Homes, in early 2006. After putting your signature on to Barsuk, the group released its first full-length, Perch Patchwork, this year 2010. The Living Adornments EP found its way to 2011, accompanied by the group’s full-length sophomore outing, Beware and become Thankful in 2012.
