Biography

Cuban-born pianist/composer and bandleader Manuel Valera is really a forward-minded jazz musician having a knack for combining myriad Latin styles with modern jazz and post-bop. Getting started like a saxophonist while their studies at the Manuel Saumell Conservatory in Havana, Valera turned full-time to piano after shifting to america and searching for the New College in NEW YORK around 1994. He offers performed with a number of name music artists, including bassist John Patitucci, reed participant Paquito D’Rivera, saxophonist Seamus Blake, percussionist Dafnis Preito, trumpeter Claudio Roditi, and many more. He released his debut recording, Forma Nueva, on Mavo Information in 2004. Since that time he offers released a small number of information, including Melancolia in 2006 and Vientos in 2007. Currents found its way to 2009, with New Cuban Express pursuing in 2012.
