Mandinka

Mandinka is really a modern world music task spearheaded by Malian guitarist Mamadou Doumbia (b. 12 January 1965, Kulikoro, Western Mali). Ahead of developing Mandinka, Doumbia have been a member from the renowned Rail Band, an organization that offered as an academy for such aspiring music artists as Mory Kanté and Salif Keita. Like a lot of Western world African guitarists, Doumbia shortly discovered himself relocating to Paris, France, of which period he became a member of Kasse Mady’s Music group. He was also guitarist and musical movie director for his cousin, Nahawa Doumbia, and proved helpful regularly with various other groupings led by Sory Bamaba. He ultimately joined up with Salif Keita’s group as business lead guitarist in 1988. Touring America in 1990 with Keita, he performed alongside long-time hero Carlos Santana in LA, before he resolved in Tokyo, Japan, following the Asian calf of the same tour. There he performed traditional acoustic models with Guinean percussionist Lamine Youl Diabate. He also performed single, playing kora and ngoni (banjo) in addition to electric guitar. His acoustic record, Mandinka Acoustic-Sobe, premiered in Japan in July 1994. He previously shaped the group Mandinka in Sept 1993, using the purpose of mixing his own guitar abilities with a complete band composed of percussion, drums, horns and keyboards. Regular people of that music group include a mixture of African and Japanese music artists – Sakurai Yoshiki (electric guitar), Kaseda Masato (bass), Karasawa Toshiyuki (trumpet), Sugiyama Ryota (tenor saxophone), Kosmas Kapitza (percussion), Matsuda Nobuo (keyboards) and Marty Bracey (drums). An infectious mixture of tempo and tranquility, Mandinka shortly became among Tokyo’s most widely used live attractions. The entire group’s debut record implemented in 1996, Self-reliance, justifiably receiving world-wide distribution through JVC Noises.
