Mambo Taxi

The short-lived all-female combo Mambo Taxi were born from the U.K. garage area rock picture of the first ’90s, but their music combined garage area with punk, pop, and dance affects. The first-names-only group contains Delia (ex-Cornershop, long term Family Method and Baby Birkin) on acoustic guitar and vocals, Ella on vocals and acoustic guitar, Andrea on keyboards, Lenie on bass, and Karin on drums. (Karin was later on replaced from the Voodoo Queens’ Anjali.) Mambo Taxi cab released three singles, 1992’s “Prom Queen,” 1993’s four-song EP “Poems within the Underground,” and 1994’s “Perform You Always Gown LIKE THIS?” aswell as one recording, 1994’s Deeply in love with Mambo Taxi cab, before splintering later on that year.
