Mamak Khadem

b. c. 1958, Tehran, Iran. Been trained in radif, a traditional music genre of her indigenous Iran, Khadem performed using the Iranian Country wide Radio And Tv Kids’s Choir. Shifting to the united states in 1976 she examined at Ali Akbar Khan University of Music with Nevenka. In LA in 1992, she became a member of Axiom OF PREFERENCE as lead vocalist, showing up in concert and on record, the last mentioned including 1996’s Beyond Denial, 2000’s Niya Yesh and 2002’s Unfolding. With this group so when a solo vocalist, Khadem continues to be noticed at many locations in america and Europe. Apart from concert performances and recordings, she’s sung over the soundtrack of many films and tv shows, as well as for stage productions. Khadem continuing to review in Iran, specifically with Parisa, Sima Bina, Saleh-Azeimi and Hossein Alizadeh. Performers with whom she’s performed and occasionally recorded consist of Reza Abaee, Simone Haggiag, Rubik Haroutunian, Eyvind Kang, Sofia Lambropoulou, Kourosh Moradi, Hamid Saeidi, Jamshied Sharifi, Skuli Sverrisson, Tulku and Benjamin Wittman. Sketching her motivation from many civilizations, specifically traditional Persian poetry that she pieces to historic folk melodies, Khadem has generated a repertoire of like songs with world-wide appeal.
