Malibu Storm

California, USA-based new bluegrass trio formed by twin sisters Dana Burke (b. Dana Schankman, LA, California, USA; vocals/banjo) and Lauren Mills (b. Lauren Schankman, LA, California, USA; vocals/fiddle) and their sibling Michael Alden (b. 1985, USA; vocals/bass). Previously child stars, the sisters uncovered a like of nation music within their early teenagers, with Dana and Lauren getting proficient in the banjo and fiddle respectively. Their affinity using the bluegrass design attracted the eye of the renowned Ralph Stanley, who prompted the twins to become listed on him on stage whenever you can. Their self-financed debut record Duality was documented once the twins had been still just 16, and highlighted a traditional mixture of bluegrass, nation and Cajun music. The record premiered in 1996 in the family members’s own Town West Information label. The sisters afterwards changed their stage name towards the Schankman Twins and continuing to perform frequently while learning ethnomusicology at UCLA, where time their youthful brother Michael acquired begun signing up for them on stage on bass and support vocals.
