Malcolm Griffiths

b. 29 Sept 1941, Barnet, Hertfordshire, Britain. In the first 60s Griffiths started an extended association with Mike Westbrook, playing trombone in his music group. Around this period he also analyzed in the London University of Music. Through the years with Westbrook he also performed in several additional bands including a short spell with Friend Rich, long-lasting organizations with John Surman and Stan Tracey, and he was in in the beginning of Chris McGregor’s Brotherhood Of Breathing. He also led his personal bands and created a parallel profession as a studio room musician. In 1994 he was reunited with Surman, showing up on Surman and John Warren’s The Brass Task. In substantial demand for his specialized skills, Griffiths offers always demonstrated himself to become eager in every that he will to push contrary to the occasionally restricting envelope of jazz.
