Venezuelan pop/rock and roll foursome Malanga was shaped in 1998 by ex-los Melodicos guitarist Rodolfo Pagliuca, aka Rudy, singer Arístides Barbella, drummer Juan Luciow, and ex-los Cañoneros bassist David Lasca, aka Chapis. In 1999, Malanga self-produced its 1st album, known as Ta’ Trancao, an assortment of Afro-Caribbean rhythms and rock and roll. Released a yr later, the recording featured the strikes “Sacame Un Jugo,” “Déjala,” and “Te Vas.”
