Maktub

Maktub, whose name means “it really is written” in Arabic, formed in 1996 like a family pet project of 4 Seattle club music artists. Reggie W (vocals/synthesizer), Davis Martin (drums), Alex Veley (keyboards), and Kevin Goldman (bass), arrived together from differing of Seattle’s burgeoning spirit community to make a groove-oriented, brooding R&B audio. Led by W’ refined baritone vocals, Maktub released a reliable debut album, Refined Methods, in 1999. The recording quickly increased to number 1 on regional radio train station KCMU’s graphs and continued to win the very best Northwest R&B Recording of 1999 award in the Northwest Music honours.
