Makar first shaped in Feb of 2000, when couple team Tag Purnell (singer/pianist) and Andrea DeAngelis (singer/guitarist) made a decision to come up with a folk group to rail contrary to the injustices they noticed around them. In 2001, they added Vincente Viray (vocalist/guitarist) and Daniel Coates (bassist/guitarist) towards the lineup, and released the 99-cent Desire EP. A full-length edition from the 99-cent Desire premiered in 2005 accompanied by Funeral Genius in 2011.
