Combining NY grit with Californian pop sensibilities, Mainland crafted catchy garage area and post-punk ditties having a smart eyes toward ’80s fresh wave, ’90s alternative, as well as the sonic aesthetic from the early-aughts “The” rings. Shaped by three close friends from California — Jordan Topf on vocals and acoustic guitar, Corey Mullee on acoustic guitar and synths, and Alex Pitta on bass — Mainland produced their foundation in Brooklyn and assimilated the vibes from immediate (and indirect) affects just like the Velvet Underground, the Strokes, and Interpol. Their debut EP (with previous drummer Dylan Longstreet), Young ladies Unknown, premiered in 2013. Nevertheless, it wasn’t until their 2014 EP, Shiner, which the band’s vision began to develop. A blistering four-song established, the EP (called after their chosen Texan brew, Shiner Bock) was documented in Austin, Tx, with Spoon’s Jim Eno. Despite the fact that they weren’t in the town, the brand new York audio permeated each monitor with jagged riffs, head-bobbing beats, and disaffected vocals that could make Julian Casablancas very pleased. After putting your signature on with 300 Entertainment, they documented a follow-up EP, Outcast, motivated by British brand-new influx and released in later 2015. Made by Kevin Augunas (Cool War Children, Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeroes) on the previous Sound Town Studios, Outcast included exuberant singalongs and a cool jagged strut on monitors like “Fading Close friends” and “Much less Great as You.”
