Maghrebika

Among the numerous cross-cultural aggregations launched with the Barbarity label, Maghrebika originated when two Algerian immigrants surviving in Switzerland, Abdelkader Belkacem (vocals) and Abdelaziz Lamari (vocals, acoustic guitar, violin, and oud), were invited to include vocals to some recording project. Both then done an entire recording that ultimately roped in efforts from nearly twelve other individuals, including some Moroccan music artists and bassist Expenses Laswell, who added his parts in NY. Maghrebika’s Neftahir recording arrived in 2006, and weaves traditional North African melodies and vocals with a lot more contemporary electro-dance, rap, and dub reggae affects.
