Macha

In 1996, multi-instrumentalist Joshua McKay and his drum-playing brother Mischo McKay found themselves both surviving in Athens, GA, following a three-year separation (that they had last lived jointly in Gainesville, FL, where these were both in a band called Emperor Moth). Back again jointly within an offbeat university city, the musical twosome quickly produced Macha alongside another multi-instrumentalist friend, Kai Reidl. Not really conveniently pigeonholed, Macha uses voice, electric guitar, and drums alongside many nontraditional equipment — hammered dulcimer, vibraphone, gongs, along with a synthesizer known as “the fun machine,” and the like — to generate music that is clearly a mix of drone rock and roll and Indonesian folk music. The music group released their self-titled debut record in 1998 for Jetset Information. It was implemented a year afterwards by VIEW IT YET ANOTHER WAY, an album which was marked from the addition of Wes Martin (another multi-instrumentalist) like a permanent person in the music group. In 2000, Macha teamed up with Bedhead, another brother-powered (Bubba and Matt Kadane) drone clothing, for the mini-album Macha Loved Bedhead. The group came back in 2004 with Neglect Tomorrow.
