Mac Martin & His Dixie Travelers

b. William D. Colleran, 26 Apr 1925, Pittsburg, Pa, USA. Colleran started his profession as an adolescent performing with Ed Brozi inside a touring medication display, and was affected by acts like the Monroe Brothers as well as the Blue Sky Young boys. After World Battle II, he became thinking about bluegrass music. In 1949, he and his music group played frequently on WHJB Greensburg, Pa, and since there have been three members from the music group called Expenses, he decided he’d become Mac pc Martin. In the first 50s, he was mentioned for his banjo playing and good vocal function, and in 1953, was using a music group on WHOD Homestead, Pa, that was likened compared to that of Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs. In 1957, he and his music group required a residency at Walsh’s Lounge in Pittsburg where they performed weekly for another 15 years. In 1963, the Travelers documented two albums for Gateway information, although only 1 was released. A couple of years later on, they documented four albums for Rural Tempo. Noted mandolin professional Bob Artis (b. 26 July 1946, Santa Monica, California, USA) became a member of the music group and when Mac pc Martin left for a while in 1972, Artis required over. In 1974, when the music group recorded for Region, Martin had came back. Furthermore to his playing, Artis published many content articles for magazines such asBluegrass Unlimited and Muleskinner Information, and his bookBluegrass was released in 1975.
