M.A.R.S.

This short-lived UK heavy rock supergroup project was assembled in 1987. Offering Tony MacAlpine (acoustic guitar), Tommy Aldridge (drums), Robert Rock and roll (vocals) and Rudi Sarzo (bass), their collective pedigrees guaranteed a lot more than they shipped. Made by Mike Varney, their only album could have been indistinguishable from Vinnie Moore’s, Tony MacAlpine’s, Marty Friedman’s, Jason Becker’s or Greg Howe’s instrumental units, were it not really for the excess vocals of Rock and roll. Project Driver obviously lacked identity, using the all-too clear affects of Yngwie Malmsteen and Rainbow unbalancing the collection. The music group dissolved immediately after the discharge, with Sarzo and Aldridge becoming a member of Whitesnake, Rock overtaking vocals in Joshua and MacAlpine resuming his single career.
