Long a very important sideman, Lynn Seaton has so far simply led one established being a leader, 1991’s Bassman’s Cellar (Timeless). He began playing classical electric guitar when he was seven but turned to bass 2 yrs later. Seaton went to the School of Oklahoma and performed locally. In Sept 1980, he transferred to Cincinnati where he caused the Steve Schmidt Trio as well as the Blue Wisp Big Music group. He was a faculty member at the faculty Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati from 1982-84 (and it has continuing teaching) but still left in Sept 1984 to become listed on Woody Herman’s orchestra. Ten a few months afterwards, he departed from Herman to start out a two-year globe tour with Count number Basie’s big music group. Since that time, Seaton (an extremely supportive and swinging participant who is able to also take solid solos) provides freelanced with a number of major performers including Tony Bennett, George Shearing (for the six-month tour), Joe Williams, Ernestine Anderson, Monty Alexander, Diane Schuur, the Buck Clayton Big Music group, Scott Hamilton, Bud Shank, Tag Murphy, Teddy Wilson and a number of top bop, golf swing and mainstream brands. The many music artists he has documented with consist of Basie, Herman, Schuur, Howard Alden, the Blue Wisp Big Music group, Cal Collins, Ted Des Plantes, Tim Hagans, Bobby Shew, Maxine Sullivan as well as the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra.
