b. Luz Casal, Spain. Originally documenting under her name, Luz is becoming Spain’s most widely known woman rock/pop vocalist since she produced her debut in 1980 using the strike single, ‘Un Ascensor’ (‘The Elevator’). Previously she got used the ‘exploitation’ rock-band the Fannys. ‘Un Ascensor’ offered the impetus to procure a substantial recording cover her 1982 debut recording, documented in Madrid, Brussels and Amsterdam. The achievement of Luz produced her a celebrity attraction throughout European countries, verified by her effective tour of Czechoslovakia in 1985. This is followed by a significant tour of Latin America where her recognition is also large. Some strong-selling albums adopted through the entire 80s without coordinating the impact from the debut, but her worldwide profile again increased in the 90s. She made an appearance alongside U2, Sting and Bruce Springsteen in the 1991 Amnesty International Concert in Chile, while her recording of that yr, A Contraluz (‘Backlighting’), offered over fifty percent a million copies in Spain only. In the three-year interim before Como La Flor Prometida (‘Like The Guaranteed Bloom’) she toured Japan, European countries and Latin America. With another large commercial achievement behind her, Luz continued to be a fixture in Spain’s general public eye, not really least because of the outspoken and frank views given to press interviewers.
