Self-termed “digital folk” duo Lulacruza includes Colombian Alejandra Ortiz (vocals, cuatro, percussion) and Argentinian Luis Marette (consumer electronics, charango, percussion). Both often blend their organic instrumentation with digital levels and beats — a fusion that leads to a tranquil, hypnotic sound. Although they foundation themselves out of Buenos Aires, they fulfilled in Boston, at Berklee University of Music. They began self-releasing albums in 2006, you start with Perform Pretty!, and produced their whole catalog available on-line, as “pay out what you would like” digital downloads. After their third appropriate album, Round Tejido, premiered in 2011, they got a protracted break from documenting but returned a couple of years later. In the invitation of Sub Pop’s Bruce Pavitt, Orcas was documented in a studio room on an isle from the same name and released in 2015.
