Luis “Perico” Ortíz

Skilled trumpet player Luis “Perico” Ortiz got involved with music while their studies at Puerto Rican Conservatory, joining the neighborhood symphony orchestra at age 18. In 1970, the Latin jazz and salsa performer relocated to NY, soon working alongside Mongo Santamaria, Tito Puente, and Tito Rodríguez, among additional artists. After liberating his first single recording in 1977, Luis “Perico” Ortiz created his personal orchestra, being granted for Trumpetist of the entire year in the 1978’s NY Magazine honours and Greatest Salsa Performer at 1981’s ACE honours. In 1993, after time for his native nation, he founded Luis Perico Ortiz Productions, doing work for well-known entertainment businesses as well as for prominent musician and manufacturer Quincy Jones. In 1996, RMM Information released his acclaimed Café Con Leche con Dos De Azúcar.
