Luís Carlos Vinhas

Luís Carlos Vinhas was a popular pianist from the bossa nova period. Known for his piano-bar passionate style, not the same as the harmonic adventurousness that characterized most pianists fascinated by that advanced genre, Vinhas however kept a most reputable resumé as an accompanist for main artists and in addition like a soloist in historical albums, just like the “O Barquinho” documenting of 1958. Like a beginner professional pianist, Vinhas became a member of the bossa nova since its from 1958. As an associate of the 1st instrumental band of bossa nova, the historical Bossa Três, he performed and documented within the U.S. Time for Brazil, he continuing to utilize that trio, also executing and documenting being a sideman for such performers as Jorge Ben, Wilson Simonal, Quarteto em Cy, Maysa, and Elis Regina. In 1964, he documented the historical record Novas Estruturas. He also participated, within the same calendar year, in the documenting of O Som, with Meirelles as well as the Copa 5. In 1966, he produced the Gemini 5, which documented, within the same calendar year, Gemini 5. The record premiered in Mexico within the next calendar year, once the group toured there. In 1968, Vinhas released O Som Psicodélico de Luiz Carlos Vinhas.
