Luís Alves

Former founding person in the Som Imaginário — which, along using its specific function, accompanied Milton Nascimento, Elis Regina, Gal Costa, Fafá de Belém, Sueli Costa, Carlinhos Vergueiro, and Jards Macalé in live performances and recordings — in the 1980s Luís Alves also shaped with Luís Eça and Robertinho Silva the O Triângulo trio. Alves in addition has performed with Tom Jobim, Chico Buarque, Dori Caymmi, Sivuca, Gal Costa, Nana Caymmi, while others. At eight, Alves used your guitar and, at 15, he created the Trio Guanabara, carrying out at Rádio Mayrink Veiga. Having turned to the twice bass in 1962, Alves performed in the famous golf club Sacha’s (Rio) with Maestro Cipó, Abel Ferreira, and K-Chimbinho. In the ’60s, he also caused Paulo Moura and Egberto Gismonti. In 1970, he created with Wagner Tiso, Zé Rodrix, Robertinho Silva, Laudir de Oliveira (later on changed by Naná Vasconcellos), and Tavito the Som Imaginário. Departing the group in 1972, Alves visited LA, CA, where he performed with George Duke, Airto Moreira, and Hermeto Pascoal, amongst others. In 1978, he participated in the I Event Internacional de Jazz de São Paulo (International Jazz Event of São Paulo) and in the Free of charge Jazz Event, with João Donato.
