Ludvig Norman

This Swedish composer and pianist’s music contains three symphonies and a number of chamber works. The music could be characterized as well-crafted and galant but as well scholastic and missing character. He was inspired with the music of Mendelssohn, Gade and Schumann who was simply among Norman’s advocates. Having examined at Leipzig with Hauptmann, Moscheles and Reitz, Norman created excellent performing abilities and was referred to as an excellent improviser on the piano. Norman executed the royal orchestra in Stockholm, 1861, and trained piano and structure on the conservatory in the outset from the 1870s. As an editor and commentator, aswell as being a conductor, Norman heralded the functions of Berwald also performing the premiere of Berwald’s 4th Symphony.
