Lucho Bermúdez

The first ever to transcribe the original rhythms of Colombia for orchestra, Lucho Bermudez (born: Luis Eduardo Bermudez Acosta) had a profound influence on the music of Latin America. His group, Orquesta de Lucho Bermudez, created in 1946, continues to be probably one of the most famous dance rings in Colombia, carrying on to execute at Golf club San Fernando, the Granada Resort in Bagota, as well as the Rustic Golf club in Medellin. Bermudez’s musical skills were apparent from earliest child years. Taught fundamental music theory, at age seven, by his uncle, Jose Maria Montes, he perfected flute, clarinet, trombone, and trumpet within 3 years. Accepting a posture as arranger and movie director of Banda Papayera at age 15, he created his first orchestra, Orchestra from the Caribbean, by his 22nd birthday. After documenting in Buenas Aires in 1946, Bermudez came back to Colombia and created Orquesta De Lucho Bermudez.
