The Loveninjas, a fun-loving, dancefloor-friendly indie pop ensemble hailing from Sweden, will be the vehicle for the songs of Tor Helmstein, who masterminded the project in 2004. Relating for an interview with It’s a Capture!’s Roni Brunn, Helmstein described that he began writing tunes when his dad passed on. “[M]ost of these had been actually shitty,” he stated. “Because, you understand, when you obtain emotional and essentially when you create songs about like and things like that, it gets type of corny.” This stage didn’t last for lengthy; fueled by Shogun (the publication, not the film), Helmstein quickly became thinking about Japan and published a tongue-in-cheek tune called “Lovely Geisha Like,” which inspired him to make a ninja-themed music group. He wasted virtually no time in recruiting his roommate Olle (who didn’t actually learn how to play keyboards at that time), previous bandmate Tobbe, and guitarist Dennis to around out the group, as well as the Loveninjas had been born. Within their formative years, the bandmembers performed in outfit — Olle donned a huge papier-mâché center (handmade by his mom, by using Helmstein) and others wore dark ninja equipment; they eventually ceased when they unintentionally left Olle’s large heart outfit in Stuttgart while on tour. The Loveninjas’ debut EP, MAINTAIN YOUR Love, premiered on Labrador in 2005. Another EP, I Wanna END UP LIKE Johnny C, arrived the following fall, and led up to the discharge their initial full-length album, THE TRICK from the Loveninjas. Having spent nearly all 2007 touring European countries, the Loveninjas came back towards the studio room and recorded several new tracks, that have been offered via their MySpace profile in 2008.
