Los Pregoneros del Puerto

The jaracho tradition from the Gulf Coast region of Mexico is preserved with the playing of Los Pregoneros del Puerto. Although Los Pregoneros disbanded soon after arriving together in the first ’60s, the Veracruz-based trio composed for lost period upon reuniting in 1982. Their recording of traditional music, Music of Veracruz, released in 1985, was accompanied by Sones Jarachos five years later on. Los Pregoneros del Puerto feature Gonzalo Mata on harp, Jose Gutierrez for the five-stringed jarana, and Valente Reyes on acoustic guitar.
