Aggressive post-hardcore quartet Lorene Travel mostly proffers exactly the same punk-influenced emo angst as better known acts like Hawthorne Levels, Glassjaw, and Cave In. But this youthful music group from California’s desert interior also betrays the impact of vintage metallic and hard rock and roll (instead of nu-metal) clothes like Led Zeppelin, Metallica, as well as the Dark Crowes, music near to the hearts of small-town heshers for many years. Lorene Drive produced in the tiny high-desert town of Victorville, CA, in 2002. Close friends since junior high, vocalist and bassist Daniel Murillo, guitarist Stephen Fisher, and guitarist Justin Smith added drummer Kris Comeaux to create Lorene Drive, acquiring the not especially good music group name from the Victorville road that Smith resided on at that time. Taking on a thorough touring timetable, Lorene Drive self-released their debut EP, Savan in Super Quest Mode (geek factors for the obscure Knight Rider guide), in 2003 before having it reissued by the very best Notch label in 2004.
