Lord Kitchener

Lord Kitchener (given birth to Aldwyn Roberts) stocks with Mighty Sparrow the name from the world’s most widely known Calypso vocalist. He started his profession in Trinidad and gained his first Street March award for performing in 1946. In 1948, Kitch emigrated to Britain together with vocalist Lord Newbie and newsreel video footage of that time period shows him performing “London May be the Place for me personally.” In under 2 yrs, he and Newbie were documenting for EMI. Kitch appreciated massive reputation in England, earning the support and love of England’s Princess Margaret. In the 1950s, he toured Western world Africa and appreciated a huge hit there along with his one, “Nora.” Like many calypsonians, Kitch drifted toward soca and in 1978 strike the graphs with “Glucose Bum Bum.” Additonally observed for his strike one, “Provide Me the Ting,” he passed away Feb 12, 2000 at age 77.
