The aptly named pan-European outfit Lonely Drifter Karen has called places as far aside as Barcelona and Brussels house, nonetheless it has always revolved around Viennese-born singer/songwriter Tanja Frinta. Frinta started Depressed Drifter Karen in Sweden being a single task in 2005, launching the one Sinsweetime, but Majorcan keyboardist/arranger Marc Meliá Sobrevias and Italian drummer Giorgio Menossi became a member of her when she transferred to Barcelona. The trio’s debut, 2008’s Lawn Is Singing, had taken 2 yrs to record and uncovered Unhappy Drifter Karen’s desire for whimsical folk and cabaret. 2 yrs later on, Fall of Springtime came on Crammed Discs, which got also released the band’s debut. After Frinta and Sobrevias relocated to Brussels, Menossi amicably remaining the music group, who recruited French guitarist/multi-instrumentalist Clément Marion. Unhappy Drifter Karen’s third recording, Poles, which boasted even more electronic and rock and roll touches, found its way to April 2012.
