Livin’ Blues

This Dutch blues band was formed within the Hague around 1967, learning to be a regular outfit from 1969. The first line-up included Bjorn Toll (vocals), John Lagrand (harmonica), Ted Oberg (electric guitar), Ruud Fransen (bass) and Niek Dijkhuys (drums) but even though name remained low cost changes soon occurred, bringing in a fresh vocalist, Nicko Christiansen, and brand-new bass and drums, Peter Kleinjan and Beverage Klaasse, the last mentioned pair being quickly changed by Gerard Strutbaum and Cesar Zuiderwijk, while key pad participant Henk Smitskamp was added. Various other changes followed with the 70s, where time the music group’s repertoire was even more inclined towards rock and roll. Musicians included included bass players Ruud truck Buuren, Jan truck der Voort, Jaap truck Eijk and André Reynen, drummers John Lejeune, Herman truck Boeyen, Cor truck Beek, Michel Driessen, Kenny Lamb and Arjen Kamminga; the last mentioned pair played within the band concurrently for the spell. Smitskamp occasionally played bass, vocalist Johnny Frederiksz emerged in, as do organist Paul Vin and guitarist Ron Meyes. Although most widely known in holland, Livin’ Blues also obtained a following somewhere else in Europe, specifically in Poland. In the beginning of the 80s, the music group included Oberg, Christiansen, Evert Willemstein (bass) and Boris Wassenbergh (drums). Spin-off rings produced by ex-members from the Livin’ Blues included Nitehawk as well as the J&T Music group, while most associates also used various other Dutch blues and rock and roll bands. The music group documented from 1968, reducing several singles using its initial album to arrive 1969. The music group seems to have drifted in the limelight following the early 80s but curiosity about its recorded function remained high in to the new millennium.
