Little Red Rocket

Led by vocalist/guitarists Orenda Fink and Maria Taylor, Small Red Rocket have already been likened variously to female-fronted guitar pop rings like Tummy, that pup., Veruca Sodium, Lush, and Elastica. Both women fulfilled at an excellent arts senior high school in Birmingham, AL, and originally started executing as an acoustic duo before adding drummer Louis Schefano and bassist Greg Nobles. Within a couple of months of gigging, Small Red Rocket had been agreed upon initial to Portland, OR-based Tim/Kerr Information, who released their solid debut Who Do You Pay out that same calendar year. Soon afterwards, these were agreed upon to Geffen Information, but were fell before they released anything, partly because of the merger and foldable of Geffen in to the General Music firm (Geffen reneged on the agreement to concern a major-label debut within half a year of signing, leading to very much inner-strife for the music group people). Taylor and Fink ultimately parted methods with Schefano and Nobles, settling in the faculty hamlet of Athens, GA. The powerful duo installed with Large & Jolly Administration, consisting of couple group Carol and Hugo Burnham (ex-drummer for Gang of Four). Though they didn’t possess a record offer, Small Red Rocket started documenting what would ultimately become It’s in the Audio, their follow-up for Monolyth Information. The record, released in 2000, presented a rhythm portion of Big Atomic’s Jacque Ferguson (occasionally “Jackie,” bass), and Japancakes/Works drummer Scott Sosebee. They possess sometimes added brass accompaniment, supplied by various Athens-area music artists, including Chris Sugiuchi of Prince Rondavel Apts. on trombone.
