In 1978, he shaped his 1st blues music group and started playing the blues pubs around lower Manhattan, but his status started to grow when he started backing up famous music artists like pianist Pinetop Perkins, Hubert Sumlin, and Jimmy Rogers if they came to NY or NJ to execute. In 1990, Small Mike & the Tornadoes got their personal recording agreement with Blind Pig, a San Francisco-based label, and his result continues to be quite prolific since that time. The group’s 1st album, CORONARY ATTACK, includes guest shows by Perkins, Paul Butterfield, and Sumlin. 2 yrs later, he documented Short term, also for Blind Pig, before documenting his debut for Traveling Fish Information (a label which has since been obtained by Rounder Information), Flynn’s Place. Markowitz can be an extremely hard functioning, level-headed blues musician who’ll no doubt surface area over and over on information, whether for Rounder or for a few various other label. All three of Markowitz’s albums can be found on compact disk, and worth searching for.
