Língua de Trapo started like a band specialized in ironic humor having a mixture of Brazilian and international pop music. Their biggest industrial strike was the brega “Operating-system Metaleiros Também Amam” (Carlos Melo/Aírton Mugnaini Jr.), shown in 1985 in the Event dos Festivais. The music group was shaped in 1979 as Laert Sarrumor e Operating-system Cúmplices, changing their name in 1980. Their 1st recording, Língua de trapo, was documented in 1982. After two additional ones, documented in 1985 and 1986, they received the APCA reward (from São Paulo’s Association of Artwork Critics). From 1987 to 1991 the group interrupted their actions, returning with Laert Sarrumor, Valmir Valentim (drums), Serginho Gama (acoustic guitar), Cacá Lima (bass), and Zé Mileto (keyboards); they documented two additional albums in 1995 and 2000 and left out the humor specific niche market. Their strikes are “Conchetta” (Carlos Melo/Cassiano Roda), “Amor ? Vista” (Laert Sarrumor), and “Xingu Disco” (Carlos Melo/Laert Sarrumor).
