Linda Hayes

Sister of Platters vocalist Tony Williams, Linda Hayes had a reasonably lengthy profession of her own seeing that an R&B vocalist in the 1950s, saving singles between 1952 and 1959 in the Recorded in Hollywood, Ruler, and Antler brands. Her biggest achievement undoubtedly was the 1953 number 2 R&B strike “Yes I UNDERSTAND,” an “reply” record to Willie Mabon’s R&B chart-topper “I HAVE NO IDEA.” “Consider Me Back again” briefly slipped in to the R&B TOP in early 1954, but usually she had small commercial achievement, and boasted fairly little to tell apart her from various other R&B belters within the era once the music is at the first throes of the transition to rock and roll & move. Hayes sings on some of the extremely early (pre-hit) Platters singles, the group also support her on several her middle-’50s single discs and Tony Williams performing with her on “Oochi Pachi.” The majority of her essential singles were gathered on Atomic Baby: Hollywood R&B in the Platters First ‘Dish’, released by Shout! in ’09 2009.
