A composer and performer, Lincoln Run after is best-known for composing “Jim Dandy” and “Jim Dandy Got Married” for Lavern Baker and teaming along with his wife, Shirley Ellis, in the ’60s to pencil a string of entertaining novelty music. Ellis/Chase figures included “The Nitty Gritty,” “The Name Video game,” and “The Clapping Track,” with “Nitty Gritty” and “Name Video game” both becoming TOP R&B strikes, and “Name Video game” crossing over in to the Top Ten around the pop graphs as well. Run after doubled as Ellis’ supervisor also. He released his personal LP in the ’70s, nonetheless it didn’t generate very much interest.
