LightDreams

Canada’s LightDreams was a psych and space rock and roll task centered around vocalist/songwriter Paul Marcano, along with additional songwriters Andre Martin and Cory Rhyon, business lead guitarist John Walker, sax participant Tim Moore, and bassist Artwork Lowe. Created in 1980, LightDreams showcased Marcano’s Beatlesque pop with tunes directly affected by physicist Gerard K. O’Neill’s 1977 publication about humans surviving in space, The Large Frontier: Human being Colonies in Space. The group’s single LP, 1981’s Islands in Space, was documented on the TEAC four-track Portastudio, and was accompanied by a 1982 cassette entitled 10,001 Dreams. Marcano and Martin after that created Airbrushing Galaxies collectively in 1983. They continuing working together, ultimately teaming up once again in 1993 for FIRST-TIME Back. LightDreams continued to be obscure, but steadily created a cult pursuing. In 2015, cassette label Constellation Tatsu released a 90-minute tape made up of Marcano’s ambient structure “Valley Flutes” and Martin’s “SINCE IT Is usually.” Islands in Space and 10,001 Dreams had been both reissued by Got Kinda Lost in 2016.
