Produced in 1948, this is the 1st group to get government sponsorship in Burkina Faso. Initially, these were a armed service band that performed mainly French music. In the first ’60s, led by Maurice Simpaure, they started to incorporate traditional rhythms and indigenous languages to their repertoire.
