Carrying out a well-publicized fall-out with frontman Man Chadwick, guitarist Terry Bickers still left the home of Appreciate in 1990 to create Levitation with bassist Laurence O’Keefe, keyboardist Robert White, guitarist Christian Hayes and drummer Dave Francollini. Some outstanding live gigs quickly cemented the fledgling group’s position one of the United kingdom press, while interviews using the eccentric Bickers, where he expounded openly on topics including prog-rock revivals, traveling saucers, reincarnation, bacchanalian revelry and Egyptology, additional established the music group as mass media darlings. Expectation was high for Levitation’s documented debut, and 1991’s Coppelia EP didn’t disappoint: a shimmering, majestic work highlighted with the narcotic epic “Smile,” in addition, it highlighted excursions into sensitive psychedelia (“Rosemary Jones”) and distorted pop (“Paid in Kind”).
