Spurred with the public’s rekindled curiosity about post-punk and shoegaze works like New Purchase, the Jesus and Mary String, and, notably, the Remedy, ex-Cure member Laurence “Lol” Tolhurst, his wife Cynthia Levinson, and Dayton Edges produced Levinhurst in the first 2000s. The group’s initial album, 2004’s Ideal Lifestyle, was an electro-pop affair that recalled the gauzy nightscapes of Tolhurst’s previous band aswell as the aloof, scientific nature of performers like Imogen Heap and Kraftwerk. Levinhurst transferred from what Are Records? because of their meditative sophomore discharge, 2007’s Home by the ocean, also offering guitarist Eric Bradley, who became a member of the Levinhurst lineup in 2005.
