Léonard Hodemont

Students at Liege Cathedral who was simply a mature “duodenus,” pupil at Louvain School, cannon at Liege Cathedral and afterwards St Materne, Liege, and lastly the maitre de chant for the Cathedral. Hodemont constructed motets and other styles of sacred music. Using one event he composed a bit for eight voices and refused to divide the choir into two for the intended purpose of continuity. His counterpoint excelled as well as the Italian flair for solid musical claims, ornamentation and melodic subtleties had been even more pronounced. The impact of Hodement could be noticed in the music of his godson, Lambert Pietkin and Henry du Mont.
