Leon Roppolo

Clarinet and alto sax participant Leon Roppolo helped pioneer the jazz single. Blessed in Lutcher, Louisiana, Roppolo’s family members transferred to New Orleans in 1912. Immediately after Roppolo was playing skillfully, and at age group 15 he became a member of a vaudeville tour with Bee Palmer the Shimmie Queen. Afterwards, he used Carlisle Evans on Mississippi River watercraft, where he reunited with youth close friends Paul Mares and George Brunnies. The three journeyed to Chicago in 1921 to become listed on the Friars Culture Orchestra, which advanced in to the New Orleans Tempo Kings. Because of its year-and-a-half life, the band offered as role versions for youthful jazz music artists like Bix Beiderbecke. Upon splitting up in 1924, Mares and Ropollo visited NY and became a member of Al Siegal’s Orchestra. Roppolo documented with the initial Memphis Five as well as the California Ramblers, however the recordings have already been lost.
