Leon Prima

The older brother of Louis Prima, Leon Prima was overshadowed throughout his career by his sibling, although he was a talented trumpet soloist too. He began on piano before switching to trumpet. Leon worked well in his start with Leon Roppolo, Ray Bauduc, Jack port Teagarden and Peck Kelley’s Poor Young boys (1925-27) in Tx. Leon led The Melody Experts in New Orleans through the past due 1920s, was much less mixed up in ’30s and was with Louis’ big music group in NY from 1940-46. After time for New Orleans, Leon going his personal combo until retiring in 1955 to function in property construction. Apart from two titles through the Esquire Concert of 1945, Leon just led one documenting date like a leader, leading to four amounts that formed section of a 1954 Southland LP.
