Leo Rowsome

Leo Rowsome had a profound influence on the development of Irish music. Representing the 3rd era of pipers in his family members, Rowsome was among Ireland’s few professional music artists within the 1930s and ’40s. Teaching uillean pipes in the Municipal College of Music in Dublin since 1920, Rowsome received an initial place prize in the Dublin Feis Ceoil in 1921. The very first president from the Pipers Golf club, Rowsome joined along with his sibling, Tom, to create a new business, Cumann Ceoltoiri Eirann, in January 1950. The business developed into Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eirann in 1952.
