Len Garry

Len Garry played tea upper body bass in the Quarry Males in 1957 and 1958, if they were even now doing some skiffle music. They do rock’n’roll as well, but tea upper body bass was area of the instrumentation for most young British sets of the time, not merely because it participate in the skiffle repertoire, but also since it was less costly than a power bass and amp. Garry was students in the Liverpool Institute, where Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and another early Quarry Males member, Ivan Vaughan, all visited college. In about middle-1957 he changed probably one of the most obscure Quarry Males, Expenses Smith, on tea upper body bass after obtaining introduced towards the music group through his friend Vaughan. Garry’s amount of time in the Quarry Males finished in 1958 when, at age 16, he contracted tubercular meningitis and was hospitalized, lapsing right into a coma and nearly dying.
