b. 30 Sept 1939, St. Boniface, Manitoba, Canada. Gaining his early stage encounter in his homeland, Cariou became a very much sought after participant of dramatic and musical humor tasks. In 1968 he visited NEW YORK for his American debut, playing within the Broadway creation of the home Of Atreus, that was aimed by Tyrone Guthrie. The next year he got the lead in William Shakespeare’s Ruler Henry V, an American Country wide Theater and Academy creation. In striking comparison, he adopted this using the part of Expenses Sampson within the 1970 creation of Applause, where he performed opposing Lauren Bacall. The grade of his performing and singing with this display was identified when he was nominated to get a Tony Award. 3 years later on another Tony nomination arrived for his efficiency as Fredrick Egerman within the effective Broadway creation of Stephen Sondheim’s JUST A LITTLE Night time Music. In 1977 he performed a right dramatic part in Cold Storage space, after that reprised his part as Fredrick Egerman within the critically derided film edition of JUST A LITTLE Night Music. Back again on Broadway in 1979, Cariou performed the business lead in another Sondheim musical, Sweeney Todd, co-starring with Angela Lansbury. His acclaimed efficiency brought him a Tony Award as Greatest Actor WITHIN A Musical. He performed more Broadway tasks within the 80s, although in relatively lesser vehicles, included in this being Dance JUST A LITTLE Nearer (1983) and Teddy And Alice (1987), where he performed Theodore Roosevelt. Within the 90s and beyond Cariou shifted easily between stage and display and again. For the stage, he performed in The Acceleration Of Darkness (1991), The SOCIAL GATHERING (2000), and Resistant (2001). Over the silver screen he made an appearance in Professional Decision (1996) and About Schmidt (2002), while his tv performances include helping roles within the Practice, The Western world Wing, and Murder, She Wrote, the last mentioned reuniting him with Lansbury.
