Lemuria

Sheena Ozzella and Alex Kerns had already known one another for quite some time (including a spell where these were a few) before forming Lemuria through the fall of 2004 in Buffalo, NY. The two appeared to bands just like the Lemonheads, Superchunk, Jawbreaker, and Hüsker Dü for impact in crafting their very own punky, melodic indie rock and roll. With Ozzella on electric guitar, Kerns on drums, and Adam Vernick on bass — all three distributed vocal responsibilities, though Ozzella had taken the lead of all music — Lemuria got active recording a small number of demos. Vernick didn’t hang in there long, however, eventually leaving the music group during the composing stage of its initial EP. Bassist Jason Draper, who acquired previously used Kerns and Vernick in the neighborhood hardcore clothing StillxIll, quickly stepped directly into take his put in place 2005, and an eponymous four-song EP made an appearance that same calendar year via Kerns’ label, Artwork from the Underground. A string of 7″ and divide releases implemented over another couple of years, including a divide with the brand new York-based Body, another alongside Portland’s Similar to Spitting entitled Your Living Room’s AROUND Me, and a 2007 discharge with NJ pop-punkers the Ergs! Yo Yo Information, a German label, after that had taken the liberty of gathering a lot of the band’s existing demos and 7″ recordings, compiling them, and launching the final item as The Initial Collection. Lemuria’s initial full-length record, PROGRESS, was taken care of by Asian Guy Records and made an appearance in Feb 2008 to significant praise and reviews that are positive. Pebble, the band’s second record, found its way to early 2011, accompanied by Distance IS INDEED Big in 2013.
