Roland Voss, aka Lemongrass, moved through many musical stages before striking his stride being a drum’n’bass/downtempo manufacturer in the past due ’90s. The German-born Voss started acquiring drum lessons in 1974, and used a number of funk and (mainly) jazz ensembles on the remaining decade. Once the ’80s came, Voss became thinking about new influx, and following that began tinkering with digital means of audio production. Through the second fifty percent of the ’80s, Voss founded several projects — mainly dance groups, but additionally a punk music group known as Klappstuhl — and arrived within a Berlin music group called New Countries, where he started employed in earnest with digital musical instruments and sampling methods. Voss ultimately released his first record, 1993’s breakbeat-oriented Wuwei, beneath the alias Succa V, and shortly began dealing with drummer Torsten Kötter simply because Jungle-Moon; their initial discharge in 1994 proclaimed Voss’ initial full-fledged endeavor into jungle.
