Ledford String Band

The Ledford String Music group was led by get good at fiddler Steve Ledford, who first found success among the most popular players from the 1930s. Ledford was created and elevated in Bakersville, NEW YORK, and gained his initial fiddling competition at age group nine. He and his family members began performing being a string-band at regional one-room school homes in the Roan Hill region. Eventually, they truly became referred to as the Carolina Ramblers Stringband and transferred to NY in 1931, where they started playing on region radio. In 1932, they documented 20 music for the American Record Firm, eight which had been released on brands such as Ideal, and Romeo. Ledford afterwards came back to his house to marry and plantation. A couple of years afterwards, he teamed with Wade Mainer; while with Mainer’s music group, Ledford documented his personal fiddle tune “Small Maggie.” Through the first ’40s, Ledford made an appearance regularly on the Roanoake radio place with Jay Hall and his sibling Roy. He came back to farming in 1942; some more years handed down and Ledford produced a fresh incarnation from the Carolina Ramblers along with his small sibling Wayne and their relative Adam Gardner.
