Cincinnati, OH’s Natural leather was much metal quartet called after singer Natural leather Leone, a longtime fixture from the city’s rock and roll scene because of her account in local steel champions, Chastain, aswell as leadership function within a short-lived all-girl clothing called Malibu Barbie. Teamed up with guitarist Michael Harris (ex-Tyrant, Arch Competitor, etc.), bassist David Harbar, drummer John Luke He’Bert (afterwards with King Gemstone) in 1989, Leone documented an record entitled Surprise Waves for the Roadracer label, beneath the supportive guidance of David T. Chastain himself. And a reliable, confident, and, most of all, heavy first work it was as well, only not industrial more than enough to vault Natural leather into anything resembling real stardom or warrant another album, evidently, since Leone shortly resumed her regular frontwoman responsibilities for Chastain.
