A manufacturer of downcast techno, onetime gardener Lawrence (Peter M. Kersten) released his first materials for Kompakt, Ghostly, and Mule Digital, but the most of it was released on Dial, the Hamburg, Germany-based label he co-founded with Carsten Jost and Turner. Much like the materials from a good quantity of his contemporaries, the department between Lawrence’s rhythms and textures was ordinarily a blurry one, though he steadily embraced a cleaner audio using a broader instrumental palette. Obviously inspired by famous brands Larry Noticed and Theo Parrish, Lawrence’s result nonetheless maintained a distinctive touch and disposition that mirrored the grayscale graphical design where it tended to end up being presented.
